Solider Hollow

If you have never been, and love to go fast down a huge hill, in the snow, on a tube, that you have no control of. I would then highly recommend you going to Solider Hollow to go sledding. It was pretty fun even though my two little ones did not like it much. In fact they cried/screamed the whole way down & then whinnied the whole time in line and up the mountain, until we made them go down the mountain again at which time they cried/screamed again. After two times the boys and I went and found a treat in the van & sat and watched the rest of the group go down a few more times. It is a really neat place & everyone had a lot of fun. You just sit on your tube and they pull you up on a rope tow then they have four or five lanes that are groomed for the tubes to go down. Yes you go down very fast & I have to admit that I was a little nervous about how fast we were going down the mountain. Thanks Grandma Kathy for a very fun day:)

Castles

The boys have been having a blast with the castles they have. Parker got his on his Birthday back in July and still loves it. Then Ryan got one for Christmas. They love to put them together and play with all the things that go with them. I love when they can get along and play so good together. They spend hours setting up the the guys & animals just right. Here is proof that my boys do get along sometimes.

Tubing

During Christmas break there was a day were the snow just never let up. It was awesome. I have to admit that I love the snow, it is so pretty! The boys were so excited about all the fresh snow that I could not pass up the opportunity to take them sledding. So we called up some cousins and just went to a local school that has a hill just the right size for my boys so that I would not have to carry them up the hill every time they went down. They had a blast, Ryan and Preston just went up & down, up & down a million times. Poor Parker hated almost the whole thing. I got him to go down two times with me and then he just sat on a sled at the top of the hill whining the rest of the time. I do feel kind of bad because McKay was gone and Korey was at work so they did not get to come with us. But I just keep hoping we will get another storm and then we can all go. As much as I love the snow I am ready for summer!!!

Christmas Morning

I cannot believe how few pictures I took on Christmas. We were having so much fun hanging out & playing with new toys that I never thought about it. It is so great to have Christmas through the eyes of children. On Christmas Eve we went over to Grandma Bonnie's and had our annual dinner/program. The kids love hanging out with there cousins. They do not need entertainment when they have each other.
At my Mom's each family is in charge of a spiritual or entertaining thought. This year McKay sang a song and the boys got together with there cousins and sang another song. They are such good sports. We did a fun White Elephant game at the end of the night. Which the kids always love, it always surprises me how happy kids are with things that are just from the dollar store. After Grandma's we came home and sprinkled reindeer food & glitter on the ground to help Santa find our house. Then we gave the boys there annual Christmas Eve Jammie's. Then they hurried off to bed. I love to hear them talk with each other while they are in bed. The excitement in there voices was so cute.
McKay was the first one up at 5am. I told him to go back to bed until 7. Which he did, but he never went back to sleep. The poor kid. Finally at 6:30 Ryan was awake too, So we attempted to wake Parker & Preston. Preston was fine since he knew what was going on, but oh how mad Parker was. It took him a few minutes before he got happy and realized what was going on. After we did our little family Christmas morning we headed over to Grandma Kathy's house to exchange gifts and have breakfast. She makes a very yummy breakfast casserole.But I think I was more excited for what she got the boys then they were, since they did not know what they were getting. It was fun how she gave there gift to them. She tricked them and gave them this little tiny box. In it was a note that said "I got you a "wii" little gift this year. Have a Merry Christmas!" The boys did not catch on for a few minutes. We kept asking them what the note said. Then they were got so excited when she handed them a big box, and even more excited when they opened it and there was a wii inside. They kept asking for a wii and we kept telling them no and not to get there hopes up, that we did not have enough money to get one this year. So they were super surprised to get one from Grandma. I do have to admit that it has been really fun and we have enjoyed a lot of time together playing it. I have never been a huge video game person but this thing is so fun.
Over all I think we had a great Christmas the boys enjoyed all the family time & it was so nice that Korey took so much time off & was able to hang out with us so much. We love when Daddy is home.

Ginger Bread Houses

One day I got brave during Christmas break & decided to make Ginger Bread Houses with the boys. We had lots of left over candy from different things & I thought this was a good way to get rid of it. I think for our first time making them without a kit bought from the store that they turned out pretty darn cool. Check them out for your self:)

Zoo Lights

Last year we went up to the Zoo during Christmas break & they had the whole Zoo decorated with lights. It was pretty cool & all the animals were were out and a lot more active. So we decided to go again this year. We went long with Korey's family. It is always fun to have a group to hang out with. I was having to much fun & forgot to take pictures but I did get some of the boys on the carousel right before we left! Thanks Grandma Kathy for a fun night!



I love that Ryan is on a Rhino. We always call him that when he is in a bad mood:)

Scera Park Singers

At McKay's school when they are 5th & 6th grade you are in a choir called "The Scera Park Singers". When I went to Scera Park I too was in the group & the same lady taught us then that is now teaching McKay. I thought she was old when I was there & yet she is still there. They had a couple of performances. One at the Mall, then at school one night for the parents, and then once during the day for all the kids at the school. My favorite song they sang was "Pablo The Reindeer". It was a cute song and they had some fun actions to go along with it. I even made McKay sing for my family on Christmas Eve. He is such a good sport! After McKay's performance at the Mall we went and got dinner & then headed over to see Santa. This time Parker actually got on his lap. He even talked to Santa and told he wanted "Super Hero's". I think he felt a lot braver since his brothers were sitting right next to him.

Once there was a SnOwMaN

One morning my boys woke up and there was snow ever where. They were so excited and could not wait to get outside and play in it! I do not think Parker remembered snow because he was a little confused about all the stuff on the ground. They were so bugged at us for not wanting to wake up and just instantly go outside and play. So after breakfast they got all bundled up and headed out for some fun times. This too bothered Parker he could not understand why he needed all this stuff on just to go outside. While they were outside Korey pulled them around the house on a sled at least 20 times and the boys loved it! Then they convinced him to build a snowman. They were so proud of snowman. I was proud I could not believe how big he was. Well sadly to say like always in Utah it warmed up and by morning his head had melted off and things were pretty saggy on him. I am just glad we got a picture of him before the sun came out!

They used Oreos for his buttons & eyes, and an Oreo stick for his mouth, & yes that is a mickey mouse sprinkler for his head! They even put a carrot on for his nose, & then his arms are snowball makers.

Ward Christmas Party

We had our annual Ward Christmas Party. Like most ward activity my Mother seems to be in charge of them. Which is OK she has some fun ideas and we usually have a great turn out. This year my SIL Dawnean wanted the kids to get together and sing a song. She picked out a cute one called "Parade of Toy Soldiers". She is amazing and always going the extra mile with everything that she does. So of course her kids had the song down pat a month before the party. Were we like to live a little more on the edge. I opened the email a week before and made my kids sing it day and night the whole week!!! Then of course she came up with some cute ideas for costumes for them to wear. I do have to say my boys looked pretty darn cute. She even went as far as to get Grandpa Jon to play his guitar with the kids. It was fun and my boys did great!!! They were a little quiet & all Parker wanted to do was sit on the ground & play the drums. But hey at least he got up there. After everyone did there little part Santa came and said hi to all the kids. Parker of course wanted nothing to do with him and I was lucky to get him to give him a high five. Good job boys I am very proud of you. Next time I promise we will try top prepare a little bit more a head of time!

JA City

I got a fun chance before Christmas break to go up with McKay's class to Salt Lake. Through out Elementary they have had this course called Junior Achievement. They get to learn about lots of everyday life things. How things run and work when they get older. When they are in 5th grade they can go to SLC to the Children's Museum where they have a whole city set up. The kids each get a job where they get paid. Then with there check they can deposit them and write checks to the different business to buy things. They had worked for weeks before to learn about there jobs and how to work a bank account and how to write checks. They even had a Governor over the city. The kids were way excited to go and have a whole day up there. I was so glad I got to go, I was just a little bummed that I did not get to work were McKay worked but I still got to hang out with him at lunch. I got some fun pictures of the kids in our ward and of McKay's friends. If your school does not do this program I highly recommend it. The kids learn a lot over the years and what a fun thing to look forward to when you are in 5th grade. I am glad that my son still likes me to come and help out with things at school it makes me feel like I am not to old & that he still likes me.
